AXIS Assist... with a flipper. It's the best of everything in a slim, lightweight, every day carry. Easily operated and carried on either side, the speed and function of AXIS Assist, the convenience of a flipper. The 490 Arcane flipper features a 3.2" CPM-S90V satin finish blade with aluminum handles. CPM-S90V is a excellent high-end, premium American-made powdered steel with a uniform micro-structure that provides substantial improvements over other American-made steel in wear and corrosion resistance.

AXIS Assist

Easily opened, quickly and with one hand; this evolution of the AXIS includes a spring that helps to fire the blade into the open position once the user pushes it beyond a certain point manually. The AXIS lock also has the added benefit of "suck-back," which encourages the blade to stay in the closed position. AXIS Assist knives also feature integrated safety lock systems.

Love it

I wasn’t crazy about it at first. I didn’t like the handle and found it not to have the best grip being that it was aluminum. But after using for a few months I started to prefer carrying it over my ZT, Spyderco, and other Benchmades. The blade has stayed very sharp in that time. I haven’t even touched it up and that’s saying something. I like my blades “scary” sharp and utilize several sharpeners and strops to keep the blade in top condition. I haven’t had to do this yet but we’re getting there.

Benchmade Amicus Flipper Knife

As an EDC knife, I challenge ANY and all comers to surpass the utter excellence of this 490. Smooth as butter in opening and closing, rock solid and razor-sharp blade, weighs next to nothing and the deep carry clip is perfectly positioned.
Expensive? Yes. Cry once, Buy once and never look back! You will not find a better EDC, period.
