Rick Hinderer XM-18 3.5″ Recurve Stonewash Flat Dark Earth G10

From its sexy style to its useful continuous curving cutting edge, the recurve blade style is always a Hinderer Knives favorite! The XM-18 is known the world over as one of the toughest tactical folders regardless of your mission. Rick's focus when designing the XM-18 was a no nonsense tactical tool ready for the simplest cutting tasks to high speed low drag operations. It's available in a 3" model, a 3.5" model, and the 4" model is designated the XM-24.

The XM Series 3.5" model has a blade thickness of 0.165" and a handle thickness of 0.540", making it perfect for EDC. The oversized choil permits choking up on the blade for more precise work. The blade locks up on a solid 1/4" diameter Thumb stud which is press fitted into the blade. This makes for a very strong lockup as there is no loosening of the thumb stud which can happen with two piece designs. The fact that the thumb stud locks up against the frame adds an incredible amount of strength to the sideways torque of the blade as the sideways stresses are being stopped by the whole handle side, thus relieving the stress that would normally be put on the pivot.

The Hinderer Xm-18 3.5 Recurve

This knife is excellent. I've had about 9 XM-18, all different blade shapes, and this one has to be my favorite glad I was finally able to find and buy it brand new. Shipping was fast, and the item was well packed. The Recurve seems to be a bit more slicey than most other blade shapes than the slicer grind. Lock up was about 25%, there were a few burn marks on the pocket clip that seems to have come from when the clip was being cut during manufacturing. The scale is not the best color, in my opinion, which is another great thing about these knives. They are like legos, and I have since put on an OD Green G-10 scale. I would 100 percent buy another one of these knives, and ill be doing it from here!
