A step up in size from the Big Berkey. After years of research and customer feedback, it was clear that people who were using Berkey water filter systems were not always delighted with the systems’ output.
At the time, we offered customers who needed to shop for water filter solutions only two models online: the Big Berkey and the Travel Berkey. The customers using these units gave us useful feedback: They said that their water consumption demands were while they had normal-sized families. Due to their unique lifestyles, customers in this group needed to buy a Berkey filter with a larger capacity.
We listened and found that this group used the water from their filter for drinking and used it for things like cooking, pets, plants, and many other various demands. Often, this group of our customers led active lifestyles in which they consumed more water than normal, lived in warmer southern climates, or drank a lot of prepared drinks like tea or coffee. In our normal fashion, we listened to our customers' demands and introduced another size of Berkey model into our growing family of products. Ideally suited for the demands of larger families and people leading active, high-water-use lifestyles.
- 3.25 GALLON CAPACITY- The portable Royal Berkey System effortlessly filters water for about 2-4 people each day. Add additional Black Berkey Elements (the Royal Berkey System can hold a maximum of 4) to increase the flow rate. The system is just 23” tall and 9” in diameter.
- FILTERS TYPICAL CONTAMINANTS THAT COULD BE PRESENT IN TAP WATER AND RAW, FRESHWATER SOURCES SUCH AS LAKES, RIVERS AND PONDS- Choose only Black Berkey Elements. There are no substitutes for Berkey performance and quality.
- ECONOMICAL, LONG-LASTING- A pair of Black Berkey Elements lasts for up to 6,000 gallons before replacement is recommended, depending on the quality of influent water. Each additional pair of elements (sold separately) adds 6,000 gallons of contaminant reduction to your system. Black Berkey Elements average just 2 cents per gallon of water.
- INDEPENDENT TESTING- Berkey Water Systems has used several independent third-party labs to test a broad range of typical contaminants found in freshwater sources including tap water, and has conducted Extreme Testing for lead and PFCs in order to show the effectiveness of Black Berkey Elements.

What are your shipping policies and how fast will my order arrive?
North River Outdoors offers free shipping for purchases of $99 and over within the United States (some oversized items may incur charges). We strive to ship in-stock orders within 24-48 hours, often the same day if placed before 5 PM Eastern Time. Standard free shipping typically arrives via UPS or USPS within 3-6 business days. We currently ship to the USA at this time. You can track your order status by logging into "My Account" on our website.
What is your return and exchange policy?
We offer a 60-day return policy for unopened and unused items, for a 100% refund. Items must be returned in the same (or similar) condition in which they were received. Opened, used, or damaged products, or those not following our return policy, may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. We reserve the right to refuse returns in non-sellable condition. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

Do you offer any services like knife sharpening or gear repair?
Yes! We offer a range of services at our Virginia store, including knife sharpening, axe sharpening and rehandling, knife/axe cleaning and conditioning, and waxed canvas bag/pack waxing and conditioning. We also provide laser engraving. Drop-off for services is available Monday-Saturday, with a typical turnaround of 1-2 business days.
